Juliana de Affonseca brings a rich and diverse background to her role at Civitas, shaped by a global career and a strong foundation in international business. Before joining Civitas, she held positions at a worldwide public accounting firm in Philadelphia, the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, and a boutique consulting firm in Berlin. Her exposure to a wide range of industries—from pharmaceuticals and aviation to food franchises—sharpened her ability to build client trust and navigate complex, cross-cultural environments.
Drawn to the power of public space to transform communities, Juliana shifted her career path. She relocated to Fort Collins to pursue a master’s degree in landscape architecture at Colorado State University. This transition was driven by her passion for creating spaces that foster connection, resilience, and long-term impact.
Since joining Civitas, Juliana has spent over 7 years working on projects in both urban and suburban settings. She is deeply committed to designs that serve as catalysts for positive change, always prioritizing trust and collaboration among clients, communities, and design teams. Her recent work includes redesigning a beloved waterfront park in Jacksonville, Florida, and developing a new lakefront park and boardwalk in Wayzata, Minnesota—both exemplary projects that reflect her dedication to meaningful placemaking.
