Design for Fort Collins’ Southeast Community Park well under way

Fort Collins provides its citizens with one of the finest park and trail systems in the west.  As the city grows it is integrating new community parks to further expand the park system and provide a diversity of experiences to its citizens.  Southeast Community Park is a 50-acre site that centers on McClelland Creek against Fossil Ridge High School.  Although the area was historically agriculture, orchards and sheep grazing, the creek corridor with its mature cottonwoods and willows defines the park.  In a collaborative effort, the city urban drainage and storm water team is rejuvenating the creek corridor and expanding wetlands and natural drainage and flood absorption that is a critical element within the Civitas design of the park.
